Today you will head for Linlithgow. Passing through South Queensferry you will enjoy the iconic Forth Bridge, impressive! Less than an hour from Edinburgh, the charming town of Linlithgow is home to an important filming location in the Outlander series: the ruins of Linlithgow Palace which were used to represent Wentworth Prison where Jamie is imprisoned. Just a few miles away you can visit another filming location from the series: Bo’Ness and Kinneil railway station where the scene where Claire and Frank say goodbye before going to war was filmed. The station and carriages can be visited, as can the Scottish Railway Museum, the largest in the country. Check into your hotel or B&B for the night.

Today you will drive to the charming village of Pitlochry in Perthshire. En route visit 2 Outlander filming locations: Culross and falkland: it is here in this village representing the 1940s inverness, that Claire and Frank spend their honeymoon. A beautiful inland drive through the wilds of Scotland. Settle into your accommodation for the night.

This morning, let’s go to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands! Located at the northern end of the famous Loch Ness, it’s a pretty and lively city, worth a visit! On the way you’ll enjoy some iconic Highland scenery and visit 3 more Outlander filming locations: Kinloch Rannoch (possibly one of the most iconic filming locations, it was used for the Craigh na Dun site. It is here, in the very first episode, that Claire visits the stone circle and is projected into the past, in 1743. Note that in reality there is no stone circle on this site, which does not detract from its beauty). Then the Highland Folk Museum (the reproduction of the Highland farms when Claire joined Dougal to receive the rents from the clan tenants). And finally the famous battlefield of Culloden. Arrive in Inverness in the afternoon and check into your accommodation for the night.

Day 5 of your journey in the footsteps of Outlander, and head for a new mythical place in the Highlands, Glencoe. On the way, you will pass along Loch Ness and you may have the chance to see its monster… Don’t hesitate to make a stop in Fort Augustus and Fort William, two other emblematic towns of the Highlands. The landscapes surrounding Glen Coe are world famous and can be seen in the opening credits of season 1. Settle into your accommodation for the night.

Head to Stirling, en route stop at Loch Katrine and the magnificent Doune Castle, both used in the filming of the series. Settle in and spend the night in your charming accommodation.

On the way to Edinburgh, you’ll see three Outlander spots: Midhope Castle and Blackness Castle. Settle into your charming Edinburgh accommodation in the afternoon. Enjoy the warm atmosphere of the Scottish pubs for your last evening in Scotland!
